What is breast reaugmentation?

If you’ve noticed your implants sitting a bit differently, it’s all a part of the natural cycle – your breasts have changed around them due to weight fluctuations, pregnancies or simply with time. It’s your body’s way of telling you that you are due for a breast reaugmentation!

This procedure involves making an incision to remove your old implants, addressing any internal scarring, and putting in new implants that fit your body better now. You may require a reaugmentation 10-15 years after you got your first procedure.

Breast reaugmentation: Things to remember

Discuss the needs of your changing body with our surgeons during your consultation.
You may need implants of a different shape and size than the ones you had before. Our medical team will guide you based on your current goals.
Since breasts naturally sag over time (and with the weight of your implants), you may need to combine a reaugmentation with an uplift.
If you get your old implants removed and opt not to have new ones put in, you will need an uplift to ensure a natural look.
A reaugmentation is typically needed every 10-15 years, but you may need one sooner if you face an implant rupture or a capsular contraction.
The surgery will be done under general anaesthesia.
The new incision will usually be made along the previous one to minimise any new scars.
As with the first time, do expect some pain and bruising after the procedure.
You will be able to resume work in a week, but please avoid heavy activity until 6 weeks after the procedure.
